But in my experience of rassf on Usenet, it was more like publishing, in the sense that it seemed to me in the latter days that there were the people the NH++s recognized, and people that they didn't. The sense that we're "all equals together" had faded since I joined the community in 1983 -- there was a general sense of hierarchy. Your mileage may vary. I found that other groups were more likely to let new people and ideas bubble to the top.
