The naming of modern medicine
Jan. 6th, 2010 10:45 amEarly next month I'm going to have endovenous laser ablation surgery. I never had lasers ablate any part of me before. Isn't that just a cool-sounding title for a procedure? Scarcely matters what it is.
(Okay, it does matter. It's an out-patient thing to close off damaged blood vessels in my leg so that they don't leak and court clots. Very good stuff. But the name justifies itself.)
